But before they closed the doors for good, one more rockin’ wedding was going to send her off in style. Dar and Chris are originally from Memphis, but currently live in Bristol. They came back home to get married and I’m so honored that I was chosen as their wedding photographer. Dar is definitely a free spirit and a true Midtown Bohemian. Even though they both live out of town, they are getting married here at First Evangelical Christian Church in June.  The weather cooperated with us, which for mid to late February is quite a pleasant surprise. Emily and Kip compliment each other extremely well. Emily is quiet and reserved while Kip is anything but. Starting out at the Memphis Central Station and working our way towards the Blue Monkey, we were able to capture many great photos that really show off both of their personalities and their love for each other. Afterwards, we stopped at the awesome Bluff City Cafe for some coffee and hot chocolate. Here are a few photos from their engagement session. Enjoy!!

Because if you aren’t growing (ripening), you’re dying (rotting). Even professional golfers that earn millions have their very own golf [...]]]> Everyone needs to readjust, refocus and recommit. No matter what they do, there is always room for improvement. Minor tweaks, new tricks, or just going through the fundamentals again ensure that you are constantly growing. Because if you aren’t growing (ripening), you’re dying (rotting). Even professional golfers that earn millions have their very own golf pro to constantly encourage them, challenge them, and work with them to get even better. Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson, Freddy Couples, you name it. They have golf professionals (that you probably haven’t even heard of) to thank for their success.

This past weekend, I was thrilled to attend the Believe Workshop in Knoxville. Why? Why would someone who has 24 years of wedding photography experience need to attend a workshop? Easy. I’m ripening, not rotting. I realize that I don’t know everything, or may have forgotten something along the way. New ways to do something or a new twist on something old; there is just so much to learn. Technology marches forward. We either adapt or end up like the dodo bird or the dinosaur.

I sincerely want to thank Joe and Kathleen of JoPhoto, Kristin of KLP Photography, and Casey of Nicholas and Keaton for taking a Saturday and sharing new technologies and reaffirming fundamentals to me. I thoroughly enjoyed it. I also got to finally meet Rich and Robert from the phenomenal company, Ciderr. They are the ones that allow me to offer high quality photography wedding registries to my fantastic clients.

In addition, my beautiful bride, Fay and I spent Sunday morning and afternoon exploring downtown Knoxville and the Great Smoky Mountains before making the trek back home. I’ve included a few photos from the weekend and hope that you enjoy them.

Here’s to each of us continuing to ripen, learning new things, and honing our skills to provide the very best for our clients.
